Web Series

The web-series has rapidly become one of the most exciting mediums for storytelling. These days, we’re seeing incredible content being published online, with production quality previously only seen on television or in cinemas.

A narrative web-series can be the beginnings of TV shows. It’s proof to networks and distributors that your idea has legs. However, unlike television, there are no rules on episode length or structure. There’s fewer restrictions on content and classification. Which is why we love watching a good web-series, but we love making them even more.

Back in 2017, Stepmates Studios independently produced our first web-series called Fighting ISIS, which was ultimately picked up by the folks at Network Seven and developed into a fully commissioned series called Regular Old Bogan.

Back then, we chose animation because it drastically broadened the story we could tell. We could take our characters anywhere, and make them do anything. As a couple of young blokes with not a lot of money in the bank, we would never have been able to produce this web-series if it were live action.

That’s when we fell in love with animation - and we also fell in love with the web-series format.

For creatives, it’s an accessible and compelling way to demonstrate your storytelling chops.

For commercial advertising, it’s a powerful way to promote your brand and engage your audience.
